Do We Really Need a Twitter Only Device

This could be filed under, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." In an article titled "It's the First Twitter-Only Mobile Device, But Why? PC World ask "Do we really need twitter-only devices."

A humorous comment that accompanies the article says, "Oh yeah, I remember those, we called them pagers."

And while I'll admit that I kind of like the idea, I can't really see the need when most smart phones can either go directly to the site or have various Twitter applications. But I also have to think that there are some people who may prefer this over the higher costing smart phones.

The device called a TwitterPeek is available exclusively from Amazon, which also sells the Peek Pronto Mobile Messaging Device for $299, including a lifetime service contract (see below).

Interesting. I had no idea this twitter only device existed. i used to hate twitter, but I've learned to "accept" it recently, and I have an account for work and for play. As for owning something like this, I could see it if I was an addict. If all I was using my Iphone, or Nexus, or HTC phone for, was tweeting... then, I could see the logic in it. Lifetime service, and all the tweeting you can handle. Decent price. Not for me. :)
